Turmeric and Paprika Hummus

Turmeric and paprika are both spices that are known for their anti-inflammatory properties. Chickpeas, the main ingredient in hummus, are a good source of protein, fibre, and vitamins and minerals such as iron and magnesium. Tahini is rich in healthy fats and is a good source of calcium. Garlic has been shown to have immune-boosting properties. Overall, this turmeric and paprika hummus is a delicious and nutritious way to enjoy a healthy snack or appetizer.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 3 tbsp tahini
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)

METHOD

In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, and salt.

Pulse until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.

With the food processor running, slowly pour in the water and olive oil until the hummus reaches your desired consistency.

Transfer the hummus to a bowl and garnish with chopped parsley (if using). Serve with homemade seeded thins.
