Hummus is a healthy and delicious snack that is packed with nutrition. Chickpeas are a great source of protein and fibre, which can help you feel full and satisfied. Tahini is a rich source of healthy fats and minerals like calcium, magnesium, and iron. Garlic and lemon juice are both immune-boosting ingredients that can help fight off infections and support overall health. Finally, olive oil is a healthy source of monounsaturated fats that can help lower inflammation and support heart health.
- 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1/4 cup tahini
- 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Water, as needed
In a food processor or blender, combine the chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, cumin, salt, and pepper.
Blend the mixture until it is smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
Gradually add water as needed to thin out the hummus to your desired consistency.
Adjust seasoning as needed, and blend until everything is well combined.
Serve the hummus in a bowl, garnished with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of paprika or fresh herbs, if desired.
